Wednesday, November 29, 2023

"New Ways of Telling Your Story" - during Audiovisual Days 2023, we have focused the story on media, film, VR, games, podcasts and experiences. Thanks for all the conversations and inspiration! What fantastic days you have created with us on-site at the Visual Arena and digitally.

The last time we had the opportunity to conduct Audiovisual Days at Lindholmen Science Park was in 2021, when there was a pandemic and the entire event was digital. This year we were therefore extra keen to be invited to a hybrid event with both physical and digital participants. Work on this year's event already started last winter, and resulted in three magical days packed with inspiration!

The program offered insights from several different industries. Danielle Lauren from England opened with a keynote lecture on AI in creative professions. A knowledgeable panel delved into the game of Roblox with 13-year-old Roblox expert Mio Rindlav stealing the show. In collaboration with the Gothenburg Film Festival and the Academy of Culture, Johanna Koljonen presented this year's edition of the Nostradamus report and Johannes Skoog from VP Nordic talked about how Virtual Production is used in innovative, and sometimes quite extreme, ways in film and TV productions.

Karin Bäckmark, Nordic podcast manager at Spotify, gave a unique insight into Spotify's work with podcasts, followed by a panel discussion between her and Ulla Svensson, format developer at SR, led by podcast researcher Mia Lindgren. The lovely gang behind the Tiktok series Ruset took us behind the scenes of Sweden's first drama series on TikTok. May Abdalla talked about her award-winning work in VR, a knowledgeable panel discussed the importance of innovation in the film industry and, for the first time ever at Audiovisual Days, there was a lunchtime cinema with the talented directors of Five4Fiction. Out in the lobby, the participants on site, in addition to drinking coffee and mingling, could also take part in a number of VR works, enjoy a moving exhibition by Michele Castrezzati and participate in Open Chair Democracy Talks.

Audiovisual Days ended with a panel consisting of representatives from both the film, media, sound and game industries: Anette Novak, Ebba Bonde, Karin Bäckmark and Klaus Lyngeled. They talked about the common challenges of the future, a panel conversation that in a way summed up the whole of Audiovisual Days and what the event stands for: bringing audiovisual industries together, learning from each other and looking ahead. This conversation was then recorded for Episode 20 of the Media & Democracy podcast, listen on Spotify in Swedish >

Project manager Gunnar Eriksson, Film & TV Lindholmen, is satisfied with this year's event:
''We look back on a fantastically successful and well-attended edition of Audiovisual Days, where, through a packed, sharp and up-to-date program, we highlighted the most burning questions and challenges that unite all of us active in the audiovisual industries!''
